WNS Concerns
A lot of questions have been asked about WNS and it’s possible effects on KOR. The KOR staff and various grottos and other concerned parties are going to be proactive in preventing the spread of WNS.
This year, and possibly more to follow, will see some changes to the typical KOR. We’re going to require all caving participants to please arrive on site with cave clothes and equipment clean and decontaminated using the FWS recommended procedures.
Trip leaders will be looking at each trip member and will determine if their clothing and gear is satisfactory. If not, you may be asked to change or not participate. Trip leaders decisions will be final.
Cleaning and decon stations will be available throughout the camping area and at the showerhouse area.
We’ve asked the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife biologist handling WNS in KY to be present on site, to answer any questions and possibly give a update on recent efforts in KY to prevent WNS spread.
