Event Info

Karst-O-Rama (KOR) is the annual local caving convention and fundraiser. This year KOR is being hosted by the four sponsoring grottos of GSP (Bluegrass Grotto, Central Ohio Grotto, Dayton Underground Grotto, and The Greater Cincinnati Grotto).

KOR takes place at The Great Saltpetre Preserve (GSP) near Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. KOR is like a family reunion that's presented by cavers, for cavers (or those newly interested in caving!), and runs from Friday through Sunday. Activities include, but are not limited to, guided cave trips, cave equipment vendors, a Food Truck at the picnic shelter, and caving-related entertainment, among other things. There is a "Howdy Party" Friday evening for everyone to get reacquainted, this year featuring a live band "The Bourbon Britches," and on Saturday evening there is a banquet, program with door prizes, and a dance party featuring live music by a local favorite band, "Tone Control."

Please head to the Registration tab above to check out event pricing, extra nights of camping, electric sites, banquet tickets, and KOR Merch.

Guided trips to wild caves in the area surrounding GSP will be offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Check out the Shelter House information board at 7pm each night to see and sign up for cave trips offered the next day.

The cave trips come in a variety of flavors: Horizontal, Vertical, Wet, and Dry. Your experienced guides and tail-gunners will make sure everyone gets through the cave safely and back to base at GSP. There will also be activities at the preserve for those who don't go caving during the day.

Want to warm up before the strain of caving, or stretch out and relax after a hard day? Check out Yoga in the Cave! Classes are offered at different times Saturday and Sunday, depending on the minimum sign-up requirement being fulfilled.

Be sure to check out the Preserve Map posted at the Registration Tent, and order a Guidebook for a printed schedule of events and maps of the surrounding caves where trips will be led.

This year the Guano Grill will not be open, but there will be a Food Truck onsite to meet your needs.
